Constantin Virgil Ivan-Cucu is a Senior Lecturer at EIPA's Antenna in Luxembourg, the European Centre for Judges and Lawyers, where he is responsible for training and consultancy for the judiciary and other legal professionals on judicial and law enforcement cooperation in criminal matters. He studied law at Bucharest University and completed his training at the Diplomatic Institute and Carol I National Defence College in Bucharest. Before joining EIPA, he worked for the Regional Cooperation Council as Head of Justice and Home Affairs, dealing with strategic coordination in South East Europe of the fight against organised crime, terrorism and corruption, justice system reforms, combating irregular migration, visa issues and border management according to the EU acquis. In this position, as well as through his positions in the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Supreme Court of Romania, he has gained extensive professional experience in delivering technical and legal assistance projects, criminal investigation and prosecution and court administrative processes. Between 2002 and 2005 as Director at the Ministry of Justice of Romania, he contributed to the EU law approximation, drafting the legislation and facilitating the harmonisation of the laws in the judicial and criminal law reform area.
